How wide is an ADA parking space?
An accessible car parking space is at least 96 inches (8 feet) wide with an adjacent access aisle at least 60 inches wide (2010 ADA §502.2–§502.3). A van space is 132 inches (11 feet) wide, or a 96-inch space paired with a 96-inch access aisle. The access aisle runs the full length of the parking space.

Accessible parking is a space plus a striped access aisle beside it — the aisle is where a wheelchair or lift deploys, so it’s as important as the stall.
- Car space: 96 inches (8 ft) wide, with a 60-inch access aisle (§502.2, §502.3.1).
- Van space: 132 inches (11 ft) wide with a 60-inch aisle — or, as an alternative, a 96-inch space paired with a 96-inch aisle (§502.2).
The access aisle runs the full length of the space (§502.3.2), and two spaces may share one aisle. Van routes also need 98 inches of vertical clearance (§502.5) for the raised roof and lift.
How many accessible spaces a lot needs is a separate ratio (2010 ADA §208) — that depends on the total count.
These are federal values; verify against your AHJ and any state code.
Look it up: the ADA clearances reference lists the car and van dimensions and the access-aisle rules with diagrams.
